Tournament Rules

Masks are strongly encouraged when not playing your tournament sets. It is great if you’re also vaccinated, yet so long as your mask is being used at all times outside of sets, this should not be an issue. Make sure to use hand sanitizer and wet wipes provided at the Melee setups to ensure safety. TOs have the authority to refuse entry to the tournament, or to disqualify entrants from the tournament, if players are unable to follow the above rules, act in ways that are considered asinine, or are not timely enough with their matches (15 minute DQ timer, unless a player notifies the TO beforehand).

Melee Singles Bracket starts at 7:30pm, and pre-registration ends at 7:20pm. Pre-Reg is not required, but it does help me seed before the tournament and is highly encouraged.

Melee Singles Ruleset: General 4 stock, 8:00 minute timer. Items OFF. Ties after the time limit are determined by stocks, then by percentage. Master Hand is banned. Wobbling is illegal, but using the pummel action a few times (2 to 3) between handoffs is allowed (rule subject to change based on the community's wishes).

UCF/Slippi will be used for this tournament, if available.

Modified DSR: You cannot counterpick any stage you won on in the set unless agreed upon by the opponent.

In all best of 5 sets there will be no stage bans

All finals sets are best out of 5

Ties in round-robins will be resolved first by set wins between tied players, then by overall game win/loss, then finally by game wins between tied players.

Set Structure

  • Note: The above assumes that setups are standardized and have Slippi/UCF, which allows for Frozen Pokemon Stadium. Competitors may gentlemen to a non-Slippi/non-UCF setup in the event that none are available, or may decide instead to wait for one to open up before playing their tournament set.

Melee setups/tournament is located in the back of the store, by the projector, where a table with CRTs is located.
