Tournament Rules
General Rules
The rulesets are listed below. But if you can't follow these behaviour guidelines, you likely wont be playing in other events for a while. We will give out warnings first before banning. However we have no problem jumping to a ban if you can't listen to TO and Moderator. You will be removed from 45 Time as well if you have a major enough infraction on the rules. It is your responsibility to read the rules.
1. Respect yourself.
If you are struggling at all with your gameplay, your mental, or anything adjacent to those such as PTSD, controller problems, etc; take care of yourself first. If the tournament is too much, or you can't commit to the tournament for any reason, reach out to a TO . If you need some time between a game, we can try and provide some (even on stream) to make sure you can cool down or hype yourself back up etc.
But at the same time, talking disrespectfully about yourself or your play is not allowed. Critique, and general disappointment are fine. Looking for advice is actually strongly encouraged. But when we get to self-harm levels of self-deprecation, no one needs that. You don't need it, your opponent does not need it, and the TO's don't have time for it. If you are struggling with yourself in that regard, the TO's can point you to resources and or tell you to go and vent somewhere and come back. Worse case scenario we will ask you to step out of the tournament.
If you struggle with this regularly, what x45x (they/them) says more often than not is; seek therapy. There is absolutely nothing wrong with seeing a therapist to help you with your mentality in stressful gaming environments. So look into it sometime, it might help a ton!
2. Respect your opponents.
From camping, bad matchups, top tiers, and extra cheese, YOU ALONE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MATCHUP. I don't care if you think XYZ character is broken, or spamming some projectile or long range sword is scrub shit. That's a you problem. Say your GGs, respect your opponent, move on. You can absolutely be frustrated with someone's tactics. But you need to find the solution.
So what if you are struggling? Ask your opponent after bracket for advice, save your replays for VOD review with x45x or just yourself. Ask other players, pick up the character yourself, etc. If you ever wanted a shortcut to getting better, reviewing your play is one of the most important things you can do!
3. Respect TO's
Treat every TO like a Moderator. Respect their choices and decisions. If you feel you need to challenge a choice, you can hit up the head TO.
Remember we will have plenty of new Tournament Organisers. I want players to get chances to TO, so work with them!
4. Don't double dip
Please just stick to our bracket. Don't be playing in our bracket and in several others. If you want to play in another bracket please tell a TO and DQ out of our bracket for us.
5. Lag tests, region restrictions, etc
North America only. This includes the Caribbean, Central America, Mexico, Canada, and Alaska.
Wired is prefered. We will have our lagtest in #lag-test-rules, but remember that when we get to step 2, wired wins. Powerline adapters are your friend! And we are a little more relaxed about wired and wiresless connections during the cooperation bracket and doubles. If you can't get a Powerline adapter, do your best to be on 5ghz wireless Final notes
There are a few formats here, we will alternate between singles and cooperation until the monthly throwdown.
Seeding for this series will be soft in that we will mostly be looking for you on Smash.GG, but if we don't know you it will start with random seeding. But our primary method of seeding will be based on results during this series.
