Event Rules
Matches will be played with 4 stocks and an 8-minute time limit.
Tournament sets for the majority of the bracket will be best-of-three. Winners Finals, Losers Semis, Losers Finals, and Grand Finals will be best-of-five.
Starter Stages: Battlefield, Yoshi's Story, Fountain of Dreams, Dream Land N64, Final Destination
Counterpick Stage: Unfrozen Pokémon Stadium
For the first game of a set, players will choose their characters double-blind, and then strike stages in 1-2-1 order. If there is a dispute over who strikes stages first, the players will play rock-paper-scissors or a similar game of chance to determine who gets first strike. If a player wishes to contest which player gets which port, they may choose to stake port choice on the game of chance instead; in this case, the winner will receive their choice of port, and the loser will get to strike stages first. Players may not switch ports over the course of a set unless both players agree. If there is a dispute over the use of a particular character color or tag, the winner of the game of chance will always have their first choice of these.
For subsequent games, the loser of the previous game will always get to choose the stage. However, in best-of-three sets, the winner of the previous game will get to ban one stage before the loser can pick. After the stage counterpick, the winner will have to choose their character before the loser chooses theirs.
Wobbling is banned. Wobbling will be patched out using Slippi codes. If you think you got wobbled, you are likely incorrect.
In the event of a timeout, a 45 ledge grab limit is in place.
bambi’s Honor Clause (BHC): if two Sheik players agree before a set not to chaingrab, they must honor it, unless both players verbally agree to reallow it. Intentional breaking of the gentleman’s agreement can result in a game loss at TO discretion.
WallyzGrimiest Clause: If a competitor enters the bracket under the pretense that they are sandbagging, they must continue to sandbag over the course of the tournament, or risk disqualification, a stern scolding, or other consequences at the TO's discretion. Sandbagging includes, but is not limited to, exclusively playing characters one is not known to main, or otherwise arbitrarily limiting one's own ability to compete by some means.
Dave's Stupid Rule (DSR): Players may not counterpick stages which they have previously won on during a set, unless agreed to by both players.
