8:00 Minute Time Limit – if a game times out, the winner will be the player with more stocks remaining. If both players have the same stocks left the player with the lower percentage will be declared the winner. In the event of a true tie at timeout or both players lose their last stock at the same time then an additional 1 stock match will be played with the same characters and stage – players must SD twice at the start of the match, return to neutral position and wait for platform invincibility to wear off before beginning.

2: Stagelist

Starters: Battlefield, Pokemon Stadium 2, Final Destination, Smashville, Town & City

Counterpicks: Hollow Bastion, Small Battlefield, Kalos

No DSR (You are eligible to select a stage you previously won on in that set)

Either player may request a double-blind character selection for game 1 by notifying a TO. The double-blind selection will occur prior to stage bans.

Players may agree to start game 1 of the set on any starter stage. If an agreement cannot be reached then the players will play rock paper scissors – the winner will ban 1 stage from the starter list, the other player will then ban 2 stages from the starter list at which point the first player will pick a stage from the remaining starter stages.

After each game in the series, the winner of the previous game will declare what character they are playing in the next game, then the loser of the previous game will declare their character, then the winner of the previous game will ban 3 stages from the full stagelist including counterpicks. The loser of the previous game will then select from the remaining stages.

Battlefield and Final Destination variants are allowed provided both players agree. However, the following variants are not allowed under any circumstances:

Flatzone X

Hanenbow

Mario Maker

Mute City SNES

Pac-Land

Duck Hunt

The player who selects the stage has the option to select the music that plays during that game – if they do not select a specific song then their opponent may do so.

3: Mii Fighters

All Mii fighter moveset combinations are legal

Players must inform their opponent of the Mii fighter’s moveset before the game begins if the opponent requests.

4: Characters

No characters are banned at Smash Clash. The Steve PMLG tech is banned. If you’d like to report an instance of PMLG you must save the replay after the match and call a TO to review.

5: Smurfing

If you are found to be using an alternate tag or somehow hiding your identity to manipulate the bracket or seeding, you will face consequences as outlined in the Code of Conduct. If you wish to change your gamertag please notify relevant TO’s.

6: Character Colors

If two players are playing the same character and want to use the same color variant, they will play a best-of-1 rock paper scissors, the winner will be able to pick their character’s color first.

7: Hand-warmer/button check

A hand-warmer/button check may be called by either player prior to game 1 in a set. The hand-warmer/button check must be no longer than 30 seconds. A hand-warmer/button check cannot be called at any time other than before game 1 in a set (with certain exceptions, IE: player changes controllers – TO’s discretion).

8: Coaching

Coaching is prohibited during gameplay. Coaching is permitted in between matches. Cheering is permitted at all times. Examples of cheering and coaching:

Cheering: “Let’s go!” “You got this!” “Nice!”

Coaching: “He’s rolling a lot!” “His waft is ready!” “Watch for his counter”

Physical interference of either player is strictly prohibited. Violations of the above rule will be subject to penalties as outlined in the Code of Conduct.

9: Tardiness

Any player unaccounted for 20 minutes past the scheduled start time of their match is subject to disqualification from the entire event. Repeated no-shows could be grounds for further penalties as outlined in the Code of Conduct. Exceptions can be made if the TO’s are given adequate advance notice. The TO’s and staff of Smash Clash reserve the right to DQ any participant for tardiness.

10: Collusion

Any player confirmed to be intentionally losing matches, splitting prize money, or manipulating the bracket will be subject to penalties outlined in the Code of Conduct.

11: Incorrect Settings/Controller Issues

If a player has the incorrect settings or some type of controller malfunction, they must notify their opponent within the first 10 seconds of a match to re-make. If more than 10 seconds have elapsed the match must be played out.

Games or sets are not to be replayed due to a misinterpretation of the rules OR misconfiguration of game settings. Game settings should be configured according to section 2. It is the player’s responsibility to ask the TO for any clarification of the rule set in the event of a disagreement, and the outcome of a game or set will not be changed after the fact unless under extreme circumstances – TO's discretion.
