Event Rules

Ultimate:

Stock and time are set to 3 stock and 7 minutes.

Stage List: Supernova 2024 / Unified NA Ruleset

Character Picks: Chracters before stages. For Game 1, Players may choose a third party to tell character picks to if they wish to do a double blind pick. For Game 2 and on, the winner will first choose their character, then the loser will choose their character.

Stage Striking Game 1: Players play a best-of-1 Rock-Paper-Scissors, and winner will strike first. Stages are struck in a 1-2-1 order. Alternatively, both players may agree to play on any starter stage first.

Stage Striking Game 2 and on: 2 bans, mDSR (a player cannot select the most recent stage they have won on)

Stage Bans: After each Game of a Match, before selection of stages and/or characters, the player who won the previous game may ban three stages from either the starter or counterpick list. These bans do not persist throughout the Match.

Battlefield/Final Destination Variants: Both players must agree if using a different variation of Battlefield or Final Destination. If both players do not agree, the game must be played out on the default variants. 2D stages are not allowed.

If a player pauses the game mid-match, the player who paused the game must forfeit their current stock, unless a different solution is agreed upon by both players. This rule also applies to other mid-set stops, such as a controller's battery running out or becoming unplugged, halting the game.

Rules on Headphones for In-Game Sound:

  • Both players may use headphones if both players have headphones, an audio splitter is present, and both players agree to play with headphones.
  • If both players have headphones but there is no audio splitter present, no players may use headphones.
  • If only one player has headphones, no players may use headphones unless the following conditions are met: The player with headphones also supplies a splitter and a pair of stereo speakers (cannot be mono). Speakers must be as audible in the tournament environment as the sound that was already available on the setup; if the splitter reduces the audio so that it is lower than the setup's previous sound level, no players may use headphones.
  • The RVA Smash stream setup has a tournament-supplied audio splitter and headphones. As long as all of this is present, disregard above rules as headphones are allowed for one or both players.
  • These rules do not apply to headphones that are not being used for in-game sound, such as for music or to cancel outside noise.
  • If an official ruling is requested, please contact a TO.
