First Game: Start by doing a best of 1 match of rock /paper / scissors to decide who will ban first for the first game of each set. The winner of the rock / paper / scissors match will ban 1 stage from the list of starter stages. The loser will then ban 2 of the remaining starter stages. The winner will then choose from the 2 remaining starter stages.
Every Game After the First: The winner of the previous game will ban 3 stages from the FULL list of all 8 stages. The loser will then pick a stage to play on from the remaining 5 stages.
When someone asks if you'd like to "gentlemen's" to a certain stage, they mean if you're okay with simply ignoring stage banning and going to one specific starter stage. This is always allowed typically at the agreement of both players playing the set. This will typically only happen for Game 1 of each set.
If you are new to tournaments and any of this information is confusing to you, please don't worry! We can assist you. Also, most players are very friendly and will simply explain the process and help you out.
Mii Fighter Clause
Any player who intends to use a Mii during a set must declare so before the set. Players are required to inform their opponent of their chosen Mii’s moveset, listed in the format “XXXX.” Any combination of moves may be used, but any movesets that any player may want to use during a set must be created before the set begins. If a move outside of the proposed moveset is used, it is the responsibility of the opponent to immediately end the game and save the replay, then inform a tournament organizer of the situation.
