Tournament Rules

AIM HIT GO Official Tournament Rules:

Below are a list of rules and regulations for AIM HIT GO tournaments. These may be updated and modified at any time, for any reason. Rulings may be made outside the scope of these rules in order to preserve fair play and tournament integrity on a case-by-case basis. Failing to comply with AIM HIT GO’s organizer’s directions and/or requests may result in the forfeit of round(s), the entire match, or ejection from the tournament. As the facilitators of this event, we reserve the right to disqualify any competitor without a refund for any reason, which includes, but is not limited to, infractions of the following rules:

  • All equipment provided is the property of AIM HIT GO. Any equipment damaged by a participant of an AIM HIT GO event will be his or her responsibility. The responsible party must reimburse AIM HIT GO for the full value of the damaged equipment.

  • If a participant’s name is called, the participant will have five (5) minutes to acknowledge their turn and begin making their way to the designated station. If a participant fails to acknowledge their turn within the allotted time, they will forfeit their match, or in certain cases, be disqualified without a refund.

  • We expect fair gameplay. Any exploitation or use of glitches of any kind in any game may subject the participant to disqualification without a refund.

  • Before each match, both participants will be allotted a maximum of one (1) minute to configure their controllers to their preferred settings. If a participant fails to configure their controller within the allotted time, the participant must play with default settings.

  • All games will be played on the default settings, unless otherwise specified in the particular game rules.

  • As a participant, I give permission for AIM HIT GO to use any pictures or videos taken of me during an AIM HIT GO event for social media or advertisement purposes.

  • AIM HIT GO has the final say in all matters regarding an AIM HIT GO event.

  • Breaking any rule, and any form of cheating, glitching, abuse of in-game mechanics, or unsportsmanlike behavior may result in forfeiture of a game, match, or ban from future AIM HIT GO events. Accusations of cheating, glitching, and abuse of in-game mechanics shall be verified by an AIM HIT GO organizer.

Character Selection
  • Any player using “Random Select” to pick their character, must “Random Select” again if they win the match, provided that there is no way to pick a certain character in the random box.

  • Double Blind Selection method: After a side is chosen, players must first agree then ask an organizer.

    • When a player requests a Double Blind Selection, the player on the left side (1p) decides which character(s) they will use and writes down or whispers his/her selection to the AIM HIT GO organizer.
    • The organizer then signals the player on the right (2p) to pick his characters and play modes.
    • Once the player on the right (2p) has finished, the organizer makes sure the player on the left (1p) keeps his original choices.

Playing a Match
  • The match is over when either player wins the required number of games (rounds and sets may vary from game to game).
  • Once a player has won the required number of games, the winner of the match should report the result to the organizer.
  • After each set in a match, the losing player of each set has the option to change sides (1p vs 2p).
    • The player who won the game does not have the option of switching sides. He must stay on the same side if the loser does not want to switch.
  • Winning players of a round are required to keep the same characters, game modes, and order of characters for the next round.
    • Losing players can choose whatever characters, game modes, or character order he desires.

Reporting Rule Violations
  • It is the responsibly of the players in the match to detect all match rule violations and report them to an AIM HIT GO organizer immediately.
  • ALL non-gameplay rule violations must be reported to an AIM HIT GO organizer before the Game starts (e.g., the winner switching the characters after winning one game in a match).
  • Players are not allowed to stop a game in progress to address a non-gameplay related rule violation. Stopping a game in progress to report a non-gameplay rule violation will result in the forfeiture of the round on the part of the person stopping the game.
  • The only time a player may stop a game to report a rule violation is when that violation occurs during the middle of the match (e.g., a game freezing glitch in Street Fighter or an infinite combo glitch).
  • Rule violations must be reported at the time they occur. Otherwise, they will be ignored.
  • An organizer is allowed to report any rule violations on behalf of a player.
  • If an organizer stops a match to report a rule violation and realizes there is no violation, the match is replayed with both players picking the same characters, order, and side. No one is disqualified.
  • The only people allowed to stop a match to report a violation are the AIM HIT GO organizers and the players. Anyone else (e.g., a spectator) stopping a match (for any reason) will be ejected from the tournament.
  • If a player accidentally or intentionally stops their own game for any other reason, he will be forced to forfeit the game round. Examples include, but are not limited to; accidentally pressing the start button on his controller to pause the match, or unplugging his/her or his/her opponent’s joystick, etc. If the game cannot be restarted from the exact point of interruption, the player is forced to forfeit the game.
  • Match interruptions beyond the players’ control (e.g., the game crashes or freezes) will be dealt with directly by an AIM HIT GO organizer. All reasonable attempts will be made to resume the round from where it left off. If that cannot be accomplished, the match will be replayed with both players picking the same characters and modes.

Reporting Equipment Failure:

The following rules will be used in the event of a breakdown.

  • In the event of an equipment failure, the player must report the failure to the nearest organizer. Once the equipment failure is verified, the player may obtain a replacement and the match will continue as close to where it left off as possible.
  • If a match is stopped in progress, and the equipment failure is falsely reported, the reporting player must forfeit the current game round.
  • New equipment must be immediately available. If replacement equipment cannot be obtained in a timely manner, the player must continue to play on their current equipment or forfeit the match.
  • Once replacement equipment is obtained, the player is given the rest of the round to configure their buttons and test the new equipment. If the player gains an undue advantage by doing so (e.g., charging an abundance of super meter), they must forfeit the match.
  • A player may switch out equipment between games in a set at no penalty. When this occurs, the player will be given appropriate time to configure their buttons before the next match begins.

Controllers and Equipment
  • All macros available via the in-game controller configuration menu are allowed.
  • Hardware programmable input entry, rapid-fire, or other hardware assisted mechanisms are strictly forbidden.
  • AHG assumes no responsibility for any mechanical failure beyond reasonable control?

General Tournament Rules
  • A draw match, as determined by the game, must be played unless the game awards the draw to a player (i.e. Street Fighter III, Third Strike).
  • Inevitable defeat rule is in not in effect. If the game is paused under the assumption of the “inevitable defeat” rule, refer to the mid game pause rule listed multiple times within these rules and regulations.
  • Anyone visibly intoxicated or otherwise under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be immediately ejected from the tournament, and may be banned. If you do not cooperate immediately, we will not hesitate to contact the local authorities. This a zero tolerance issue.
  • Friendly banter between players is not only part of gaming but encouraged. However, excessive criticism, insults, degradation, or any other seemingly harmful banter can be seen as bullying.
    • BULLYING IS NOT ALLOWED! Bullying will result in the forfeiture of the tournament and ejection from the AIM HIT GO event and possibly the venue. This is a zero tolerance issue.
    • The rules of the venue and/or the host of event (where the host is not AIM HIT GO) may have rules in place regarding these actions. In that case, those rules will take precedence.
  • No sexually explicit acts, explicit nudity, solicitations or non-consensual sexualization. This behavior in or around the event venue will result in a permanent ban.
  • AIM HIT GO has a zero-tolerance policy toward violence, threats of violence, intimidation, harassment (sexual or otherwise), and other forms of thuggery. Any threat of violence, harassment, extreme intimidation, or violence of any kind will result in an immediate and lifetime ban.
  • There is no coaching allowed during actual gameplay or at any time during the “Top 8”. Coaching is only allowed during normal bracket matches and only between games of a set.
