Event Rules

Saturday Smash Ruleset

A. Tournament Rules
1.1. Set Length

All tournament sets will be a best-of-3 games, until Grand Finals at which point tournament sets will be best-of-5 games. Rules below do not change between these two set formats. Entrants are limited to North America to ensure the best online connection.

1.2. Set Procedure

Players select their characters. Use Starter Stage Striking to determine the first stage The players play the first game of the set Winning player of the preceding game strikes 2 stages. The losing player of the preceding game picks a stage for the next game and strikes. The winning player of the preceding game must announce their character selection for the next game. The losing player of the preceding game must announce their character selection for the next game. The next game is played. Repeat Steps 4 through 8 for all subsequent games until the set is complete.

1.3. Stage Striking

Player One is determined by Smash.gg. Stages are stuck in a P1-P2-P1 order. Players may strike from the legal stages to determine the starting stage for the first game. P1 strikes 1 stages, P2 strikes 2, P1 strikes 1 and the match is played on the remaining stage. Counterpicks can be chosen in the set beginning with the second match and each player gets 2 Counterpick bans.

1.4. Tardiness

Anyone who is not present for their set by 10 minutes past the scheduled start time is subject to a total disqualification from the event.

1.5. Lag or Disconnection

Players dealing with lag may request a TO to join the arena to verify that lag or intentional disconnections are happening. If the TO determines a player is causing intentional lag or disconnecting they will be disqualified.
