Event Rules

  • 4 Stocks, 8 Minutes

  • UCF on, NTSC v1.02

  • Items off, pause off

  • DSR is in effect (you may not counterpick a stage you have won on already, unless your opponent allows you to).

  • Stalling is banned

  • A ledge grab limit of 60 ledge grabs is in force for matches which go to time. Regardless of stocks or percentages, the winner of the match is determined by the player with the fewest 'cliffhangers' (found on the second page of stats for each character on the post-game screen screen) if either player has matched or exceeded 60. If this is tied, a 1 stock, 3 minute rematch of the game is played with the same stage and characters.

  • In matches which go to time where neither player has exceeded the ledge grab limit, the winner is determined by most stocks, and then if still tied, by percentage. If percentage is also tied, a 1 stock, 3 minute rematch on the same stage is played.

  • Both players may agree to go to any stage (even if not on the legal stage list) if they wish.

  • Wobbling is allowed up to a 300% limit, at which point the player being wobbled must be released from the grab.

  • Mewtwo’s Soul Stunner, the Ice Climbers' freeze glitch and similar glitches (ones which render the opponent unable to play) are banned.

  • Pausing (if left on accidentally) results in the pauser forfeiting a stock.

SET PROCEDURE Starter stages:

  • Battlefield
  • Final Destination
  • Yoshi's Story
  • Dreamland
  • Fountain of Dreams

Counter-pick stages:

  • Pokemon Stadium

Stage strike from the starter stages (1-2-1) for the first match of the set, i.e.:

  • Players decide on their characters (double blind if necessary - ask a TO for help if in need of a third party to mediate)
  • Rock-Paper-Scissors played to determine stage striking
  • Loser of RPS has controller port choice advantage
  • Winner of RPS strikes one stage to NOT be played in game one
  • Loser of RPS strikes two stages
  • Winner of RPS decides on Match 1 stage from remaining two stages
  • For remaining games of the set, first, the loser of the previous game selects a stage they are yet to win on in the set (DSR). For best of 3 sets, the winner of the previous game may firstly select a stage to ban their opponent from selecting
  • After stage selection, each player may choose to change character, starting with the winner of the previous game

If in need of further rules clarification, please don't hesitate to ask a TO.
