Machine score

Higher score wins (includes failing scores). In the event of a tie, another set of songs will be drawn and go through a veto process until 1 song remains. (Higher Seed, Higher, Lower, Lower, Lower, Higher) Best of 3 / Best of 5

First player to win X amount of songs advances to the next round. Standard matches are Best of 3. Matches involving Top 3 placement are Best of 5. Double Elimination Must lose twice to be out of the tournament.

Seeding incentives

Before each match players will choose from the following options in alternating order. Higher seed gets first choice and last choice. Refer to the turn order table. Player 1 Side or Player 2 side OR 1st Protect or 2nd Protect in song selection phase 1st Veto or 2nd Veto in song selection phase

Song selection
Charts will be randomized using the DDR Tools card draw app. Each player will protect and veto songs until 1 song remains. Songs will be played in order protected followed by the last song as a tiebreaker.

Pocket Picks for Lucky Snake Tournaments - This is Atlantic City! While yes, tournaments can be competitive, this is a weekend for fun! And it’s Jersey–ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN IN JERSEY! Every player has one pocket pick to use that they can declare at either (after card draw, before the round starts, even before their protected song is to begin!!). Players can:

1- Declare their pocket pick before card draw starts. Every player has the opportunity to select and use a “pocket pick” once during the card draw phase of any match of the tournament. A pocket pick is a chart that can take the place of any drawn card in place of a player’s protect action during the card draw phase. Pocket picks used in this way must be declared in the set-up phase to the TO and opponent.

Pocket picks declared in this way can substitute for your protect, regardless of the difficulty level of the current match. Please prepare carefully and clarify difficulty range with the TOs if you are uncertain. If both players use their pocket picks in the same match, the same song may not be played twice. The player who reports intent to use their pocket pick first based on ranking will have priority to use the song in place of their protect, and the other player will need to choose a different song for their pocket pick (They cannot take back their pocket pick once it has been declared, so have a couple per difficulty range just in case!).

2- Declare their pocket pick before the round starts on the stage right before their protected song!! If a player declares a pocket pick on stage, they do not get the benefit of the entire difficulty range–they must declare to their opponent and to the TO team they have decided to use their pocket pick and the pick MUST be the same difficulty and level as the chosen protected song. Choose wisely!

Process Players report together to TO or other organizer The player with the greater rank decides whether they want first or second protect priority, first or second veto priority, or if they want choice of side. They must also decide at this time if they want to declare using their Ranged Pocket Pick The player with the lesser rank now decides from the remaining of either protect order or side, and at this time they can choose to declare using their Ranged Pocket Pick or not. The greater rank player gets final pick of the three options. Songs are drawn and protects/vetoes are selected as shown below.

Seeding/Bracket In addition to calculated scores of the optional qualifier songs, players will be seeded based on a couple of different factors that will be discussed in committee with all available circuit TO’s in order to best optimize competition for the event, such as scores on the optional qualifiers, range of scores on the SMX app, SMX app ranking, and any participation in, seeding, and placement in an SMX circuit event since Winter Ball 2024 (a circuit event is a Wild-level event with at least 16 participants). You will have an idea of your pools up through the days leading up to the event, but will be for the most part finalized Wednesday night, 2/19/25.

If you have not yet submitted qualifiers and need to on site, please DM MaestroGee on the Winter Ball official discord as soon as you can. Qualifiers, due to timing, must be completed before the end of Wednesday, 2/19/25
