Stage List

Starter Stages

● Battlefield* ● Final Destination* ● Hollow Bastion ● Small Battlefield ● Town & City

Counterpick Stages

● Kalos Pokemon League ● Smashville ● Pokemon Stadium 2

  • On Counterpick, any version Battlefield may be used, so long as it was not banned by the opponent ** On Counterpick, any version of Final Destination may be used, so long as it was not banned by the opponent *** Lylat Cruise Battlefield form is banned, as well as both versions of Gamer. ****When using a non standard Final Destination/Battlefield against Steve, Player should use Wuhu Island Omega form as Final Destination or Temple Battlefield form as Battlefield due to the impact of steve’s shovel/mining techniques. If a different version of Final Destination was selected at the stage select, it is required for the players to go back and reselect the stage.

Stage Clause

A player/team may not counterpick to the last stage they won on during the set.

Stage Striking

Players play a best-of-1 Rock-Paper-Scissors, and winner may choose to either strike a stage first or select a port first. Stages are struck in a 1-2-2-1 order.

Stage Bans

After each Game, the winner of the previous game will state if they are changing character. The loser will then state if they are changing character. The player who won the previous game will then ban up to two stages from either the Starter or Counterpick list. These bans do not persist throughout the Set.

PMLG (Steve Tech)

The Steve PMLG may not be used in any capacity during a tournament match. If a player suspects their opponent has used PMLG they may save the replay and ask for a TO review. Any competitor caught using the tech will be issued a game loss, or a set loss for multiple offenses during a set.

In-Game Music Selection

Game 1 must remain random unless both players mutually agree upon a song or both agree to let one person choose. On Counterpicks, the song cannot be selected by the person who won the last game**. The following songs may not be picked under any circumstance: ● 25m ● All Retro Medleys ● Deluge Dirge ● Electroplankton ● Environmental Noises ● Freakyforms Your Creations, Alive! ● Gamer ● Pac-Man ● Rhythm Boxing ● Ring a Ding (Stream Matches only due to licensing) *If both players agree, any of the above are fine with exception of On Stream matches. **A player listening to their own music via headphones or otherwise may not select in-game music. In these instances, the player using game audio may opt to pick the stage music for each game. *** TOs reserve the right to make final judgements, including but not limited to a player’s request, on competitors counterpicking songs to make their opponent uncomfortable or troll including songs that are not on the above list. Players found attempting to intentionally circumvent or abuse the In-Game Music Selection rule may be issued a game loss at the TOs discretion.

Double Blind Character Selection - Either player may request that a double blind selection occur. In this situation, a referee or third party will be told, in secret, of each player’s character choices for the first round. Both players are to then select their first-round character, with the referee validating the character selections.

Pausing and the Home Button - Pause setting is to be set to off. However, if it is not, pausing is only legal while either player remains upon their OWN respawn platform, and only for the purpose of summoning a tournament official or in the case of a controller malfunction. All other pauses will incur a stock loss to the player who pauses the game. If the pause causes the opponent to lose a stock, the pausing player receives a game loss. This rule also applies to controllers which cause the game to revert to the Switch home screen.

Stalling - Stalling, or intentionally making the game unplayable, is banned and at the discretion of tournament staff. Stalling includes but is not limited to becoming invisible, continuing infinites past 300%, and reaching a position that the player’s character can never be reached by the opposing character. Stalling will result in a forfeit of the game for the player that initiated the action.

Self-Destruct Moves - If a game ends with a self-destruct move, the results screen will determine the winner. If a sudden death occurs as the result of a self-destruct move, a standard sudden death play-off game applies (see below)

Sudden Death - If a game goes to Sudden Death, the winner is determined by stocks and percentage at the time the game ends. If both players are tied in stocks, the player with the lower percentage is the winner. In the event of a percentage tie, or a game in which both players lose their last stock simultaneously, a 1-stock tiebreaker will be played with a 3-minute time limit on the same stage and with the same characters as the tied game. The results of an in-game 300% Sudden Death do not count. If Sudden Death occurs in a Sudden Death game, this process is repeated.

Colorblind Clause: Players may request that their opponent change colors to accommodate colorblindness or if their color is indistinguishable from the stage background (i.e. Dark/Black colors on Lylat Cruise, similar costumes in character dittos, etc.) The request must be made BEFORE the match starts.

Collusion - Players suspected of colluding may be immediately disqualified from the tournament. This includes intentionally throwing a game, splitting a payout, or committing any other form of bracket manipulation. The TO reserves the right to deny payout of event winnings to any player suspected of colluding.

Final Rulings - If any unforeseen situations occur, judgment of tournament staff is final. Rules may be altered between phases of a tournament in the best interests of the event. (Example: A game-breaking glitch is discovered on a stage mid-tournament that could be exploited. The stage may need to be removed from legal play for the remainder of the event.)
